AV Rack and Speaker System
THIS PAGE NO LONGER MAINTAINED
Intro
To augment the screen array, the Video Wall will have an audio system in addition to a lineup of various video input devices. Below is a preliminary list of peripherals I've compiled that will be included in the audio and video racks. Product suggestions will be listed as they are researched.
Useful Specifications, Numbers, and Math

- 1366 x 768 native resolution (WXGA - 1080i/p will scale down, 720p will scale up)
- 5464 x 3072 total resolution (16.79 MP)
- 7.33mm total gap between each display (including bezel width)
- 40.4" x 22.8" x 5.0" (each TV, 1" beyond wall recess)
- 945lbs / 428.9kg total monitor weight (59.1lbs / 26.8kg * 16)
- 16' x 9' x 4" recessed hole in the wall
- 14.75" gutter on each side of array (for speakers?)
Audio
- Speakers (Mains)
- JBL CBT 70J+70JE System:
- Good: Adequate frequency range and power. Comes with mounting brackets to sit flush against a wall.
- Bad: 9.3" deep, which could be problematic, but would likely align with the fronts of the TVs. Require amp/preamp and a mixer if we're wanting to send multiple audio sources (eg. music with a mic feed).
- Price: ~$3,000 (MSRT, rounded up) for a pair.
- JBL CBT 100LA:
- Good: Fits the space well. Good vertical coverage. Comes with mounting brackets. Will sit flush without a problem.
- Bad: Weak bass and mid-bass. Require amp/preamp and a mixer if we're wanting to send multiple audio sources (eg. music with a mic feed).
- Price: ~$1,500 (MSRT, rounded up)
- JBL CBT 70J+70JE System:
- Subwoofer (necessary?)
- Amps
- Mackie FRS Series
- Harman Kardon
- McIntosh (hi-fi, probably not necessary, but they sure are nice to look at)
- Preamps
- Denon DN-A7100
- Gemini PA-7000
- Aphex 188
- Power conditioner (maybe?)
- Mixers (eg. for presentations - microphones, etc.)
Video
- PS3 (in lieu of dedicated bluray player)
- AppleTV:
- Good: Mind-numbingly simple for streaming video and music. Could be useful for streaming videos from Purdue's Youtube account. Netflix. Can be jailbroken to use XMBC. Previous generation AppleTV offers local storage.
- Bad: Video output limited to 720p. Supports few video formats.
- Price: $99.00
